A HISTORIC SITE

The École Nationale de Lutherie (National School of Violin Making) was founded in 1970.

Mirecourt, the cradle of French violin making.
It was thanks to the Groupement des Luthiers et Archetiers d'Art de France, and in particular to Etienne VATELOT, a Parisian luthier trained in Mirecourt, that we were able to open this prestigious school: we celebrated the school's 50th anniversary in July 2021! Today, it is the only public training centre in France dedicated to quartet making (violin, cello, viola).

The School offers free training, funded by the French Ministry of Education. It recruits after the baccalauréat and leads to the DNMADe (university degree).

The course takes place over six semesters and involves around 12 students at each levels.

Recruitment is international.

On completion of the course, students are taken on in the workshop.

Some students extend their training by taking a course in sculpture, or go into the restoration field.

RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES on PARCOURSUP or UPON REQUEST TO THE SCHOOL MANAGEMENT.
